Planet Earth: This BBC documentary series is probably the best nature series ever made and an absolute must-have. Iimagery is powerful, magnificent, featuring vistas that are almost, well, unworldly as you see sights you never knew existed on our planet.
A lot of films came to mind, but I decided to narrow my list to a final four. I ranked the movies based on the: authenticity of the character portrayals, overall storyline, and, last but not least, the realism of the fighting scenes. If live tv you are like me, this last aspect (or lack thereof) can totally ruin a potentially good boxing movie. Now that you know what's behind my list, check out my favorite boxing films below.
It goes without saying that one movie I have to include on this list is Taxi Driver. This is an incredibly interesting film, in that it is a commentary on the Vietnam War without ever showing the war itself. It's not a war movie it's a movie about the documentary films effects of war on soldiers. It's also about a crazy taxi driver.
Another option is an online resource called the Internet Archive. The site contains a variety of films and videos available for download. Some of the material is free to use in your video and some of it isn't. Downloads can take a while and, once you have the clip, you'll need to convert it to a file your editing software will accept. Your editing software may suffice, or you may need third-party format conversion software.
Downfall takes place during the last ten days of the Third Reich. As the Red Army tore through Berlin, Hitler retreated to a bunker under the Reich Chancellery. With him were what was left of his commanding officers, friends, and staff. We meet them all with chilling honesty and dark empathy as they face the last ten days of the war-Heinrich Himmler, Joseph and Magda Goebbels, their six children, Albert Speer, Eva Braun, and their leader Adolf Hitler. Critically acclaimed, Downfall is a brilliant film by a brilliant director. German language with subtitles, it contains mature content.
